The aim of the careers advice programme is to help you decide on what is the best career path for you to follow for the next stage of your career. This is the process used for teenagers, twenty somethings and the over thirty age brackets.
To help us to start building your profile we will send you a number of questionnaires to be completed prior to your consultation. These include a personal, career & education history, as well as multiple choice personality, interests, values and aptitude questionnaires to identify your personality traits, preferences and abilities, in relation to your career choice.
They are designed to show how much you like or dislike a spectrum of interests and activities. You'll have to rate how much a certain attitude or behaviour matches your own and it will test you on your reasoning abilities. You'll be intrigued by having to decide which activities and situations you genuinely prefer or are better at.
You don't pass or fail an assessment! We are simply trying to build a true, holistic picture of you. What's interesting is that they show up qualities that previous academic performance or employment achievements may not have unearthed - information that cannot be uncovered in any other way.
After completing your psychometric assessments, you will have a one-on-one meeting with one of our fully qualified and experienced Occupational Psychologists. Normally this will be face to face, but it can be conducted using telephone, skype or webcam technology.
The objective of all our psychometric assessments is to build an accurate profile of who you are, what motivates you? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are your values and beliefs? What gets you up in the morning?
On the date of your consultation your Occupational Psychologist, having carefully analysed the data, interprets the results in the light of your current personal circumstances, past experience, needs and aspirations. He or she will help to identify new career options, define goals and develop a career plan for you for the future.
Your consultant will follow up with a comprehensive written report detailing the assessment results, reporting the outcomes of the career counselling session and documenting the career action plan and the many practical follow-up steps discussed during the session.
Since recording the video here, the aptitude tests have become available online. So, instead of needing to come to us at 9.00 am for testing, you will now have 5 hours of psychometrics to do at home. This means that we can be more flexible with appointment times on the day, so those travelling from outside London will no longer need to get the expensive commuter trains.
