Career Management
The hardest victory is the victory over self.
A career is a very individual journey. Sometimes we follow a path wherever it leads us; at other times we take control and shape our futures for ourselves. On any journey, however, we come to crossroads; events which cause us to step back and reconsider. At such times, Career Analysts can help its clients in
- Reflecting on their skills, personalities, strengths, preferences and accumulated experience; taking a snapshot of where they are now and what they have to offer
- Clarifying future career options and evaluating these in the light of individual life objectives; striking the best balance between career goals and the need for personal fulfilment
- Developing and refining a personal marketing campaign; learning how to identify career opportunities whether advertised or not; networking and interviewing skills; producing a compelling achievement-based cv
- Researching the recruitment market on their behalf and acting as an intermediary in introducing them to career opportunities notified to us through our extensive network of recruiting organisations
Every career watershed presents different personal challenges. That is why we always begin our relationship with our clients with a comprehensive review of the current situation, and then tailor and agree the most appropriate career management programme. The essence is that the selected programme focuses only on those career aspects that are needed at the time. Unlike most of our competitors, our Executive Career Management Programme is not ‘off the shelf’. Its flexibility extends into agreeing the preferred pace and intensity of the chosen programme, and its overall duration.
Whilst at the outset the programme content and format will have been largely agreed, as it progresses it will draw in varying extents upon the following modules:
- Thorough psychometric, personality and career analysis with one of Career Analysts’ fully qualified occupational psychologists. Individual comprehensive feedback and reporting on personal insights, aptitudes, preferences, motivators and indicators for career direction. Typically this is delivered in one full intensive day
- Clarification of preferred career direction(s) and the balance between life goals and career objectives. Agreement of the ‘target areas’ for career opportunities, and research into how these arise. Development of a personal marketing plan enabling the most effective positioning of the client to job or business opportunities. The development of inspirational achievement-based supporting material (cvs and letters). Clarification of the roles of intermediaries (recruitment agencies, headhunters, personal networks, agencies, web-based job banks etc). This module usually comprises around seven hours, completed in one- or two-hour sessions
- The refinement of skills in handling career-based meetings, whether networking or interviews. Self-presentation, influencing and negotiating skills. This can take up to three hours. Liaison with Career Analysts’ recruitment network to identify opportunities (advertised or not) and to gain the inside track in the jobs market.
